What is a poem? Something that is clever
Or can a good one be simple and clear?
If academics aren't inspired to blather
May lesser mortals meanwhile persevere?
Is quality determined by the year
And current trends, a need for industry
Insiders to decide in your favour
If you cater to them, not what you see?
Nobody owns your mind, so keep it free
From dilution by spoilt brat editor
Don't tell them what you think they want to hear
And write with your own personality
And personally I think that is better
Than choosing slavery as a career
