The history of rock in fourteen lines
(I’m no geologist; I mean music)
The blues, gospel, and country were designs
Mixed up in Memphis by - who do you pick?
There’s Elvis, Johnny Cash, Ike and BB
Chicago, New Orleans, Buddy and Chuck
Spector, Motown and Beach Boys harmony
Then Beatles, Stones, Byrds, Love and Doors all shook
Us. Led Zep, Yes, then US / UK punk
Rejected long songs and garish outfits
R and B, dance, electronic, all slunk
Into view, leaving the guitar in bits
But we knew that the axe would rise again
It is the instrument of choice for men!
Sorry but I won’t be able to post tomorrow or read anyone else, as I’m away for over 24 hours. I’ll post two on Tuesday including one written on Monday, and catch up with your posts. Till then, enjoy Monday. I know you always do!
