240 - Here's to the unborn in their zillions

Here’s to the unborn in their zillions:
Let’s raise a glass to those who had no chance;
Who, unlike us, were the unlucky ones
Never invited to life’s crazy dance.
We still think we’re victims of circumstance,
Although we won the greatest lottery
Back when a few cells turned into humans,
As sperm and egg conjoined so selfishly.
Lest we forget: two hundred and fifty
Million sperm die each time that a man comes;
Millions of eggs made by girls in advance,
Though only hundreds reach maturity.
Add to these losers sperm and eggs from sons
And daughters never conceived. Now give thanks!
