Where are the snows that fell down south this year?
They missed the north out! Only a few small
Flakes fell, far from the fluffy floor so dear
To kids hauling their boxes up those tall
White slopes, then sitting, sliding, slipping, all
For thrills and spills and chills, warm hats and tights
Concealing skin vulnerable to snowball
Fights and the other sundry wintry flights
Of fancy. Hands feel tundra frost; it bites
So hard on frozen fingers, frozen ear.
Fun at a price, but warming to recall
The red cheeks, runny noses, joys and plights
Of skating on thin ice. Don’t disappear,
Cold weather! Please, freeze, please give us a call!
