216 - The roadsides greeted us with daffodils

The roadsides greeted us with daffodils -
Our very own Passover palm parade!
We spent our Easter Sunday in the hills
And dales of Yorkshire. The first place we strayed
Into - a theme park, full of rides. Afraid
Of most of these, we went on carousels
And dodgem cars, ate ice cream; even paid
For new shoes (me one pair, her three)! No bells
Ring out at Fountains Abbey, for it tells
Of lordly monks, defunct from fatal ills
Caught quick from Henry the Eighth’s divorce. Fade,
Ye papal orders! Hark, great house! Death knells!
A pox on ye! On, past satanic mills
And dark stone towns. Blake’s England, still displayed.
